WPT Indiana 2010

WPT INDIANA 2010

Lights, Camera, Action!  Get ready for some poker, Hollywood.  ...Hollywood Casino, that is.

The World Poker Tour made its first stop ever in Lawrenceburg Indiana, home of the Hollywood Casino, earlier this month.  The 28-event series began on March 3rd, and is currently on day 4 of the WPT $10,000 main event.

The main event drew a field of 144 players, which obviously pales in comparison to the spectacular 745 runners at the LA Poker Classic held in February.  Although the field was relatively small, it boasted one of the toughest lineups of the entire WPT circuit.  This is evidenced by the host of familiar names left in the final 15.  The chip leader is Frank Celo, better known as FRANK1THE1TANK online.  He reportedly won the majority of his chips from 2p2's favorite whipping boy, Allen 'THE CHAINSAW' Kessler.

Other big names still in contention include Carlos Mortensen, who has the highest ROI % of any regular player on the WPT, and Dwyte Pilgram, who many consider to be the hottest player on the entire live tournament circuit.

The story within the story however, is the race for the WPT player of the year.  The Hollywood Poker Open is the last stop on the WPT this season, before finishing off with the $25k Championships at the Bellagio.  Currently, the points leader for the WPT player of the year is relative-newcomer Faraz Jaka.  Jaka, known as the TheToilet online, had a strong year with 2 WPT final tables at Bellagio events.

Shawn Buchanan  <------Shawn Buchanan

Jaka was looking to end his competitors hopes of surpassing him in the WPT Player of the Year race, but he failed to do so when he busted just shy of the prize money.  That leaves the door wide open for Todd Terry, who's currently 2nd in chips, and Rakebackmypoker.com member Shawn Buchanan, the likable Canadian who's known for his quiet demeanor but maniacal play.

Either Terry or Buchanan would overtake Jaka with a win in this event, and with only 15 players left, "TheToilet" has every reason to be worried about his lead in the player of the year race being "flushed" away.
